Hotrods , what is it to you ? To me it can be loud , fast , and a little dangerous. Its pushing the parts that make up the car as far as they will go until they run that fine line between harmony and destruction .  Its working with what you have and in your budget to achieve these goals. That to me in a small nutshell is hotrodding. To others it may be pulling the old car out for a sunday drive and to the doughnut shop..  Damn I need to build a death machine.... but thats another story for another day.

I met up with Rays hotrods along with his friends and family at one of my favorite national events , the Hotrod Dirt Drags in Monte Vista Colorado. It was awesome catching up with them as they all loaded up in New Jersey and made the long track out to the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains to race what else. I had met the boys a few years earlier at TROG 2 and was stoked so much on their cars I hope you are too. they are made for one and one purpose , to race. I mean these aren't land speed cars or F1 cars , but they are grass roots hotrods racing the same way the guys did in the early days. All vintage parts were used and they push them to the absolute edge of destruction each pass down the track.

In the early days we see cars that wanted to go as fast as they could with what they had or could make. It was the precursor to a bunch of young guns going out to the lakes and racing each other and for time. The roadsters and coupes evolved, lost body panels lost weight and lost wind resistance. What was left for some of the better working cars was just enough to get down with the get down.   That is what these cars have in common with them . They are propose built but for going fast. I invite you to give em a look.

These guys along with others try to get out and support as many of these racing events that'll have em . They even started their own association the Pure Vintage Speed race out in their homeland , and race through the apple orchards at speed drag racing. Damn I wanna get out there for this... counting the months.
