Highly anticipated vintage drag racing once again held in September hosted by the Tornados CC in the same location as last year at the decommissioned Seneca Army Depot Romulus, NY. Having proved it’s perfect for grass roots racing, the event more than tripled. Front Engine Dragsters, gassers, traditional hotrods, motorcycles and many other odd but period correct vehicles were expected to run head-to-head via flag starts. The weather ended up great esp. for those camping alongside the airfield.

Once again, the setup resembled sixties racing with the bare necessities. Along with the racers there were vintage parts to grab and other vendors in between several food trucks, which was a nice addition. This year a neon sign handmade by the Kingpins Racing Division was auctioned as well as other items to successfully raise a whopping amount of money for fellow hotrodder Todd to help with medical expenses recently incurred. Friday night had a impromptu jam session fitting for the crowd to gather and chat after the first day of runs while Saturday night followed up with bands.

Uninterrupted racing three days plus some interesting grudge match ups until the sun went down! With a track so long racers were at full throttle and certainly new challengers this year adding to the burnouts! Such a great family-friendly event!
